This sunday morning (17th August) will be the lunar eclipse. It has been announced that we will be able to see it from KL. Looking forward to capture the event. Monday August 11, 2008Partial lunar eclipse to take place on Aug 17PETALING JAYA: Malaysians will have the chance to observe a partial lunar eclipse on Aug 17. The National Space Agency (Angkasa) will organise a programme at the Planetarium from tomorrow to Aug 17 in conjunction with the event. A live broadcast will be available through the website at www.angkasa.gov.my/planetarium in the early morning of Aug 17. Participants would include Persatuan Falak Syari Malaysia, Falak Syarie Unit of Federal Territory, Star hunter Astronomy Society and Star Finder Astronomy Society. Angkasa said in a statement that the eclipse was expected to occur between 2.25am and 6.29am. However, the eclipse could only be observed when the Moon starts passing into the umbra at 3.36am to a maximum phase at 5.10am. The eclipse could continue to be observed until 6.29am in Peninsular Malaysia. Meanwhile, residents in Sabah and Sarawak will only get to see the eclipse from the penumbra phase I. The moon will totally leave the Earth’s shadow at 6.44am.
